Elaine works for a UK branch of the laundry company Girbau. She decided to apply for a grant when her daughter was starting secondary school. Here, Elaine shares her story.

“For month’s my daughter was sleeping on a sofa bed. There was no way I was able to afford to buy her a new bed and clothes storage, being a single Mum on a low paying wage. We live month to month and the luxury of saving for things is nigh on impossible. It’s seldom that I have any cash left over.”

“I am also so appreciative to the FTCT for assisting with her new school uniform and bedroom furniture. Even though her room is still small she finally feels like it’s her own. Plus, the uniform allowed her to start her brand new secondary school looking smart and just like everyone else”.

Elaine offered these words of advice for other parents, “I didn’t think I would qualify for this, however was encouraged to apply by my HR department. Am so glad I did, the whole process for applying and receiving funding from the grant was so simple. I would highly recommend applying.”
